Friday November 3 features a double-header presentation of New Works by Title:Point and thingNY.
Title:Point is a darkly absurd performance company that has been creating and producing new plays since 2006. They have created works to be presented in/for The Ontological/Incubator Arts, The Brick, Target Margin, Silent Barn, Vital Joint, Dixon Place, Pilot Balloon, Panoply Performance Lab, the basement of The Drama Book Shop, The Parlour, Little Theater, CATCH, Sintesi/Dogpile, and various bars/trucks/gardens/roofs. In 2022, Title:Point made 2 films. They have also curated and hosted 100s of salons, themed parties, book events and live performances of the film The Room.
Theresa Buchheister and Spencer Thomas Campbell will be working on a new piece by Spencer with a small core group of collaborators.
Sharing the space/time at NACL will be thingNY, a collective of New York composer-performers who fuse electronic and acoustic chamber music with new opera, improvisation, theater, text, song, and installation. Founded in 2006, thingNY performs experimental sound works created collaboratively by the core ensemble - Paul Pinto, Erin Rogers, Jeffrey Young, Gelsey Bell, Dave Ruder, and Andrew Livingston - and by adventurous composers such as Jennifer Walshe, Robert Ashley, Rick Burkhardt, Pauline Oliveros, Miguel Frasconi, Vinko Globokar, John Cage, Julius Eastman, Jessie Marino, and Andrea La Rose.
thingNY will be collectively creating a new piece to be premiered in January 2024 at The Brick as part of the Exponential Festival. The piece deals with ancestral language, digestion as a metaphor for lineage and ancestry, displacement through time and space, and similar themes.
Partner Residencies
NACL cultivates partnerships with NYC-based theatres that become part of our growing artistic family. Artistic Director Brad Krumholz, in conversation with the artistic leadership of The Brick, The Bushwick Starr, HERE Arts Center, and JACK, selects artists from these organizations' upcoming season that would benefit from the special resources of a Deep Space Performance Residency.
