The Catskill-Midwest Express keeps on running with work-in-progress excerpts from two more Cleveland-based artists, Holly Holsinger, aka Luna Larkinsong, and Jaime Bouvier, aka Professor Aurelia Roue. The evening will also include a formal discussion with the artists and members of the feminist acrobatic dance company LAVA, Sarah East Johnson and Hilary Melcher Chapman.
Luna Larkinsong will present The Break and the Dawn, a rare strip and pole presentation designed, not to seduce, but to restore. Interweaving physical theatre with pole artistry, Luna creates a world of self discovery and female empowerment. The themes of the piece are centered around personal darkness and the journey towards light; the breaking of old selves and the dawning of new. She will also present an excerpt from The Hammer and the Well, her current work-in-progress response to The Break and the Dawn which she describes as an affirmation of female strength, rage, and sexuality.
Aurelia Roue brings us Professor Roue's Guide to Sex, Death, and Ecstasy, a performance reflecting her healing journey through circus, and finding her way back to her own body. She will frankly discuss emerging research on psilocybin, sexuality, and movement in healing trauma while leading the audience through gentle exercises exploring balance, counterbalance, and trust. The experience will be visceral and body-centered for all who wish to take part. Audience participation is not required.
