The historic Danse Macabre, or Dance of Death, is a stylized procession of ghastly figures, representatives from all walks of life, dancing to the grave — frivolous and terrifying — reminding us that time is flying… Reminding us to dance and sing!
Vestiges of this tradition linger on in Halloween, and at NACL this year we're melding the spirit of the medieval Danse Macabre with a modern dose of self-expression, a lust for life bursting through a grim parade of days. In true processional fashion, we’re also partnering with The Black Velvet Lounge to throw a Wicked After Party down the hill at River’s Edge in Barryville, where you can revel on past the witching hour…
NACL DOORS OPEN AT 7:00 pm
Kai Brasseale and his Bibimbus will be onsite serving Korean-inspired street food, so come early and be gluttonous. Then enter the chapel doors and meet what fate awaits you…
We’ll have DJ Jason Tougaw (The Mixtape, WJFF) spinning a wicked web on a wall of sound — special appearance by the saltimbanques of NACL, Brett Keyser & Lyndsey Anderson, conjuring Spiders from Mars — and, of course, YOU!
A Ghastly Parade of Talent — Come costumed, and if the spirits move you, there’ll be time to ascend the stage and share your obscure abilities: a haunting melody? juggling ankle bones? a poem by Poe or one of your own? or will you do the Monster Mash, or Tango till you’re sore? Whatever you fancy, you’ll have 2 minutes to drive us wild!
AFTER PARTY at THE BLACK VELVET LOUNGE REVS UP AT 10:30pm
Dear Departed… We are very pleased to be partnering this year with BVL and River’s Edge Restaurant and Bar. Join us in Barryville in The Black Velvet Lounge at The River’s Edge for an After Party costume contest and a dance floor driven by DJ Woody Wood Jr and DJ Catsilk.
ONE TICKET = TWO PARTIES!
You only need one ticket, which gets you admission to both venues. Haunt the Town of Highland — Start your night in Highland Lake and keep your candle burning bright in Barryville.
Advance Tickets: $20 (through 11:59pm 10/25/24)
Day of Events: $25
Come in costume and be the life of the Danse!
